So impressed is Cuisine, New Zealand’s leading wine and food magazine, with Delegat’s very first Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, it has awarded it its highest rating of 5 stars.
The newly-launched Delegat Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2008 hails from the beautiful Awatere Valley in Marlborough and was proudly hand crafted and afforded special care at each stage of winemaking.
“For the inaugural vintage of our Delegat Sauvignon Blanc to have achieved a 5-star rating by Cuisine magazine is extremely pleasing,” says Delegat’s Managing Director, Jim Delegat. “It is an outstanding accolade and certainly reinforces the quality that this Super-Premium Delegat wine offers the New Zealand market.”
The Reserve Chardonnay was one of only eight chardonnays to be awarded a Gold Medal in the chardonnay category in the 55th year of New Zealand’s oldest wine competition.
“The Reserve Chardonnay has already achieved international acclaim on the international wine stage and this latest accolade reinforces its unwavering quality and popularity amongst local wine judges and consumers alike,” says Delegat’s Chief Winemaker Michael Ivicevich.
Delegat’s Reserve Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2006 has been awarded a Gold Medal at the 2007 Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
Only four Gold Medals and one Elite Gold Medal were awarded amongst the 50 wines entered into the category, named “Red Wine - Cabernet Sauvignon and blends based on Merlot and/or Cabernet Sauvignon”.
The prestigious event, organised by New Zealand Winegrowers, included a highly-experienced international judging line-up and is widely considered to be the premier wine competition in New Zealand. This year the competition was judged in Auckland and attracted a grand total of 1540 wine entries.
Delegat’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006 was awarded Silver in the ‘Dry White – soft fruity style other than chardonnay predominant’ category at The Vintage Cellars National Wine Show of Australia, held in Canberra in November.
The event involved four days of intense judging and tasting of over 1,504 wines from all over Australia and New Zealand. To gain entry to the show each wine has to have been awarded at least a silver medal at a regional or state show.
Building on its success in previous years, the Delegat's Reserve Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2004 has this year won three silver medals at highly prestigious international wine competitions.
Chief Winemaker Michael Ivicevich comments, "our Delegat's Reserve Chardonnay continues to be recognised by judges at the highest international level and we are proud of this outstanding result."
